This day is a public holiday in many nations, including countries in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. The origins of May Day can be traced back to the late 19th century when workers in the United States and Europe were fighting for better working conditions and higher wages.  The significance of May 1 lies in its association with the labor movement, which sought to improve the lives of workers by advocating for better working conditions and fair pay.
